School Improvement Plan

Mission Statement:
As a school, we will educate and empower independent, creative, problem-solvers who demonstrate exemplary character in a global society.

Target Goals:

1. All students will improve their reading comprehension skills across the curriculum.
   The essence of our goal is vocabulary. Vocabulary involves making connections and relating new words to experience and concepts that students already know, in order to learn and understand new concepts across the curriculum.
2. All students will improve their writing skills across the curriculum.
   The essence of our goal is organization. Organization is defined as "an organizing structure that is appropriate to specific purpose, audience, and context."

Interventions:

• Classroom Intervention –Goal 1
  A variety of strategies for vocabulary development will be implemented in all curricular areas.
• Classroom Intervention – Goal 2
  A variety of strategies to facilitate improvement of organization will be implemented in all curricular areas.
• Communication Intervention
  A variety of communication strategies (such as newsletters, parents’ night, brochures, etc.) will be implemented in all curricular areas to communicate information, including our SIP goals, to parents and the community. 
• SHC Partnership Intervention
  A variety of strategies, involving parents and the community, will be implemented in all curricular areas to support student success.
• Technology Intervention
  A variety of strategies for technology integration will be implemented in all curricular areas to support reading comprehension and vocabulary development.
