MEMORANDUM FOR: Parents of Naples Elementary School Students Grades K-6
FROM: Denise Webster, Assistant Principal, Naples Elementary School
SUBJECT: After School Clubs for Students of NES, Grades K-6 (Please note the grade specifications for each club.)
A list of after school activities for NES students is provided for your information. Please look over the
list, paying close attention to the selection’s grade level and day of availability. Please rank your priority selections,
with an understanding that it is our goal to provide your student it’s first priority whenever possible,
while also ensuring that all interested students get to join a club of some kind. (The exception is for
clubs in the K-2 area, slots are limited and first come will have an impact.)
On Monday, October 17th, all club sponsors will meet with Denise Webster, Assistant Principal. Club
Sponsors will work together to ensure that every student in Grades 3 through 6 are able to join at least one
club. For Grades K-2, we will do our best to meet the needs of all students, but timeliness in your application
is vital.
On Friday, October 21st, all students will be notified of club memberships. Club sponsors will give more
detailed information for specific club requirements at that time. All clubs (unless noted otherwise) will begin
meeting the week of October 24-28, from 1430 to 1530 hours.
OFFERINGS INVOLVING GRADES K-1:
ITALIAN CULTURE & LANGUAGE CLUB (Grades K-2) Sponsor—Ms. L START DATE:
October 27 to 26 January
This club will meet weekly on Thursdays from 1430-1530. The objective of this club is to familiarize children with the Italian
culture using music, art, food, and literature while learning about local customs.
OFFERINGS INVOLVINGS GRADES 3-6
ART CLUB (Grades 3-6) Sponsor—Mr. H Start Date: Wednesdays, Oct. 26th
This program will be held on Wednesdays & is a club for students that a have a strong interest in Art. The program will be
challenging and students are expected to complete all assignments. Students will be exploring the areas of 3-D design, watercolor,
advance ceramics, ink drawings, and many other areas of fine art. The class size will be limited to 24 students.
GEOGRAPHY BEE (Grades 4-6) Sponsor—Mr. B Start Date: OCTOBER 27 2005
Students will meet in room 229 every Thursday to prepare for the Geography Bee competition. Students will work to explore
their own areas of interest in geography to increase their own knowledge of geography, and to increase public awareness of “real

JUNIOR POLICE OFFICERS—JPO (Grades 5 & 6) Sponsor—Ms. L Start Date: As soon as the cadre of students is made and trained. 2005 Students who reside on the Support Site will assist students with crossing the street in front of the school EVERYDAY in the morning and in the afternoon. This program will run in cooperation with DARE and the NSA Safety/Security Programs. JPO’s will conduct their duties daily 0740-0800 and 1420-1445 Training for the JPO program will begin immediately. Interested students must meet published qualifications and must have a teacher’s recommendation. Contact Ms. L if you are interested in joining NES JPO.
